11-08-2008 Schouten Ceralco joins Task Force Sustainable Soy
The Dutch Task Force Sustainable Soy has welcomed Schouten Ceralco as a new participant. Schouten Ceralco foresees to become member of the Round Table on Responsible Soy shortly. Schouten Ceralco processes about 200.000 ton soy products. The company toasts and extrudes soy beans. Furthermore it refines soybean oil for food applications.
24-06-2008 Storteboom Group joins Task Force Sustainable Soy
The Dutch Task Force Sustainable Soy has welcomed Storteboom Group as a new participant. The Storteboom Group foresees to become member of the Round Table on Responsible Soy shortly.

19-06-2008 Amazone Moratorium prolonged for one year
ABIOVE, the Brazilian Vegetable Oilseed Industries Association, and ANEC, The Brazilian Grain Exporters Association, have decided to prolong the Amazon Moratorium with one year.

28-05-2008 Third RTRS Round Table conference confirms need for sustainable soy
On 23/24 April the Third RTRS Conference took place. It was attended by about 150 people mostly from Argentina and Brazil and The Netherlands. Some participants came from other South American countries and the US.

18-04-2008 Report: No more deforestation for soy in Mato Grosso, Para and Rondonia
On March 31 ABIOVE, the Brazilian Vegetable Oilseed Industries Association, and ANEC, The Brazilian Grain Exporters Association, announced the results of a monitoring study into the effects of the Amazon Moratorium.

28-03-2008 Industry and civil society jointly organise seminar on responsible soy
On 19 March the first European Seminar on Responsible Soy took place. The event was organized by IUCN, the International Union for Conservation of Nature, FEFAC, the European Feed Manufacturers Federation, and FEDIOL, the EU Oil and Protein meal Industry.

4-10-2007 NEVEDI press release: Fight against deforestation for soy cultivation effective
The measures taken to combat deforestation of the rain forest for soy cultivation are bearing their first fruit. Between August 2006 and July 2007, deforestation in the Amazon region has been reduced by 59% to 251,000 hectares in comparison with previous years.

13-09-2007 Brazil takes concerns about sustainability seriously
In Brazil, sustainable soy production is high on the list of priorities, not only for national and local governmental authorities but also for soy farmers. This became apparent during a working visit made at the end of August to the Brazilian state of Mato Grosso by Frans Claassen, Director of the Product Board for Margarine, Fats and Oils (MVO).

10-05-2007 RTRS confirms principles for responsible soy and starts criteria development
On May 9 the first General Assembly of the Round Table on Responsible Soy confirmed the nine Principles for responsible soy production. In doing so it has made a start for the development of criteria for responsible soy production. During the meeting Jan Kees Vis (Unilever) and Jan Nicolai (Nutreco) have been appointed board members of the RTRS.

12-03-2007 First Meeting Round Table on Responsible Soy to take place in Brazil
The First General Assembly of the Round Table on Responsible Soy (RTRS) is scheduled to be held on May 8 and 9 2007 in Sao Paulo, Brazil. This first meeting of RTRS members as a formal institution will have the important task of electing an Executive Board and designing the strategy for the Initiative over the next few years.

During an Organising Committee meeting of the Round Table on Responsible Soy (RTRS) that took place on 8 November in Rolle, Switserland the RTRS was formally established as an organisation under Swiss law.

11-10-2006 LEI publishes report on Soya Trade and Chain relationships
The Dutch Agricultural Institute (LEI) has published a report on Soya Trade and Chain relationships. The report was commissioned by the Dutch ministry of Agriculture. MVO was member of a supervisory group when this report was made.

08-09-2006 Basis for agreement on sustainable soy reached
During the Round Table for Responsible Soy held in Paraguay from 31 August until 2 September an agreement was reached on a timeline to develop criteria and indicators to ensure responsibility within the soy supply chain.
