Soy meal

The major world users of soy meal are China, the EU and the USA. As a result of the growth in prosperity and increasing consumption of meat in China, the increase in soy demand is currently the greatest in China. Indeed, China has become a larger user of soy meal than the EU and the USA. The use of soy for animal feed is often expressed in soy meal equivalent. This is the total amount of soy meal and 80% of the amount of soybeans (the meal yield from the beans). In this way the use of beans and meal can be shown in a single graph.

Soy oil

Most soy oil is consumed in China and the USA. Last year the use of soy oil increased in the EU. To some extent this can be ascribed to increasing prices for rape oil and the growing demand for biofuels.
